
Hurricane Katrina Grassroots Relief Efforts

Like all of you, we were shocked and horrified by what we saw take place in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Many of you have asked if we know of progressive groups in the south who are taking donations to reach out to those displaced and left behind. We've collected the list below, and while it is in no way complete, we will continue to update it as we get more information. Please let us know if there's any organizations that should be added.

Investigative Reporting Fund
As reports grow of a media blackout in New Orleans and other areas affected by Katrina, the Institute/Southern Exposure will be sponsoring investigative reporters in Louisiana and Mississippi that can bring to light the stories of those affected by Katrina, and the political and economic decisions being made in the wake of the disaster.
